Security Fenestration Rating & Certification Program

In response to the increased frequency of terrorist acts and the threat of more in the future, many public and private agencies are mandating testing and rating of building components for their ability to mitigate the effects of a blast event, ballistic attack, or attempted forced entry. Test criteria and levels of protection are being developed for generic and project-specific use. Many government agencies, private building owners, consultants, and engineering firms require documentation of the protection level and test criteria of building components and systems. To address the needs of building owners and the fenestration industry, the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has licensed the use of AAMA 510-06 “Guide Specification for Blast Hazard Mitigation for Fenestration Systems” for use as part of the first certification program for blast resistant fenestration products.

As the Program Administrator Architectural Testing will publish and maintain a listing of products that have been submitted, reviewed, and found to meet the program requirements.
