Acoustical Performance Certification Program
 |
-
Acoustical Performance Certification Program provides independent verification that acoustical products meet industry standards.
-
Products may be evaluated for Sound Transmission Class (STC) and/or Outdoor-Indoor Transmission Class (OITC) when tested in
accordance with ASTM E90, ASTM E1425 or AAMA 1801.
-
Labeling of product permits the end user to readily identify product performance attributes in the field.

Value
Acoustical performance of building products, components, and systems is an important consideration for engineers, architects, and building
owners. This is especially true in highly populated cities, as well as areas around highways, railroads, airports, and high density
residential zones. The demand for efficient, noise-reducing, building cladding products in these areas is on the rise.
Sound control on the interior of buildings is also becoming more of a factor in building design for office buildings, manufacturing
facilities, and multi-family housing. Appliance and tool manufacturers are also under pressure to make their products quieter to
accommodate the need for a quieter environment.
By participating in the Architectural Testing-sponsored Acoustical Performance Certification Program, manufacturers of products
participating in the program certify that they consistently manufacturer products to be identical to those tested for program
qualification. The manufacturer’s certification is validated through third-party review of their quality systems, in-plant
audits, and periodic testing of randomly selected samples.
Participating Manufacturers:
Certification Seal: The Stamp of Approval
Manufacturers who satisfy the requirements of the certification program are licensed to apply the certification program labels
to qualifying products. In addition, a web-based certified products list is maintained for reference by specifiers and potential
buyers. Participating manufacturers are also permitted to use a facsimile of the program label in sales and marketing literature as
approved by Architectural Testing.
By applying the certification program label, the manufacturer is certifying that the product bearing the label meets the requirements
of the certification program and the rating listed is accurate for that product. Architectural Testing permits continued licensing of
the participating manufacturer based upon demonstration by the manufacturer that certification is true as indicated by unannounced
quality assurance inspections and product testing.
